THE MAIN FINDINGS OF THE MEETING:
First day:
First day, Delle opened the meeting with a welcome ceremony, which was a game for all participants. In this game everybody got a set of envelopes, each set containing four different coloured envelops, on which each group suppose to make statements about the following topics:
We are three groups working on the CulturePro project. Imagine if we are all drilling tunnels underground in order to make a subway system. How would you decried this subway? How would you imagine the metro lines?
Describe the project with your own sentences using your own expressions
Describe your highest hopes about the project
Describe your fear about the project.
After making the statements Delle collected all envelopes, and we will open these envelopes in September and take a look if there are changes in our statements or not. This game is suppose to help to be more honest about the fears, hopes, goals on personal and on team level of the project.
After opening we started the presentation by partners. The main aim of the presentations to get feedback and questions from partners about the project development.
IO2 2 day-workshop by Kultur AXE – talks: Karin Wolf, ‘Institut für Kulturkonzepte’
The method identified as entrepreneur approach of her institution is useful for the Culture Pro project because of they work on connecting the artists and the managers and how to be connected in general to economy. with other words what can economy earn from working with arts. Also in Austria business does not recognise yet how deeply it needs art. Mostly it is still a sponsorship issue, only in the last years one enterprise started to invite artists for collaboration in working projects. Probably it has a lot to do the fact that Austria’s economy is dominated 90% by small business.
An example:
The basic methodology in four aims within a two day seminar involving twenty members.
First step is self-awareness, each time this should be created individually.
Second step is reflexions. Small groups- so called ‘fishbowls’ are formed to chat about the observations etc. Anyone can jump in and out of these circles.
Third step’s ‘lesson learned‘ which is the first collective thinking including colleague discussion – colleague consulting, what can be learned and what are the obstacles. The last step can be called ‘how can we transfer all what we have learned to practice?’ Each participant is writing a letter about to achievements and the trainer will send them these letters four month later, to have look back on the conclusions.
The reactions on her lecture was generally demanding facts, concrete aspects, possible other methods. Also many question emerged about how to get the participants out of their routine thinking.
IO2 2day-workshop by Orange Hill – talks: Anna Zaroda-Dąbrowska, ‘Design Thinking’, an initial concept
This project is based on Ewa Trzcińska’s various occupations with design and design thinking, she has a consulting company similar to Karin Wolf’s, she works mostly with design and design thinking is the second aspect of her activity. Design is a tool for innovation. Also important that in their understanding design is used for learning design thinking. How to change a company’s thinking is the question using design. How to make ecological, smart social design, also design as a global idea. How to use all the mentioned aspect included for people to recognize your product.
IO2 2day-workshop by KulturAXE – talks: Andrea Kickinger, Questionnaire method exploring personas
First step:
What is your favorite quotation?
examples: The knowledge you give to a person will increase and also the person who gives the knowledge will grow.
Don’t dream your life, but live your dreams. (Mark Twain)
Only the person who burns by himself can give fire to another person
There are people who build many walls, but less bridges. (Which one can you identify yourself Mr. Target Person?)
You are what you are thinking and what you think is how you are feeling…
Second step:
Please choose only one slogan, with which you can identify with
Third step:
questions: age, sex, martial state, education, profession, industry
What field the person works?
Which task the person takes?
Fourth step:
using DISC model for different behaviour and for behaviour assessment. The four different are dominance, inducement, submission and compliance.
the lecture was turning into voices, key issues, questions:
Can we use DISC model for free?
Whom we are working for? How to deal with age?
In design thinking first step is finding the need of the people in order to make prod-uct suitable for them
The use of the questionnaire is to specify less managerial, more general dominant target groups
What and when to publish as the result of CulturePro?
Then the lecture went to the next step:
To choose four different characters from enthusiastic, defensive, compliant, inspir-ing etc. The participant chooses also the hierarchy of the temperament.
Social network or hierarchy also mentioned here as well as it habits such as inter-net, cellphone customs. From all the information one gets a number. The results lead to understand various aspects of the person, among them is what workshop she/he should choose and what the benefit need for the person.
Discussion started about the usefulness of this questionnaire.
On one hand a focus group can be made and this method can be nice to structure our discussions with people, on the hand do we really need this much information A.Z.D.
IO2 2day-workshop by Orange Hill – talks: Anna Zaroda-Dobrowska, The Word project
Introducing Joanna Oparek, a psychologist by education, a specialist in communication, marketing and public relations, also she is a poet, a writer on which recently is most focused. She published anthology of her poetry, books with her dramas and novels. She also works for theatre on stage art, writing scripts and directing, too. Oparek takes part in international projects, festivals in which literature, visual art and theatre. Beside her international recognition she is known as one of the starters of the Krakow off scene. As a sparklingly active person she created also made dolls for girls, which helped young girls to navigate in the challenges of contemporary society. With her involvement the project will help in all field of life to create integrity. Also it is a tool for making your own language and build for yourself the authentic person who you are, what is your genuine image in the company of others. In these workshops famous characters of literature, cinema will be used for developing you communication awareness. When you can find your creative potential and out of the box thinking. Talk what you think and walk the talk. One of the method ill be used is an interactive plays based on literature pieces Some aspects are: how to write dialogue, getting to known how to do your own story, also individual communication skills used with the use of symbolics taken from literature. Also literature performance will be made. One of the things also involved in his project is the journey in time: how to use universal language of literature to build positive communication. Texts will be used from Nobel prize winner writer’s such as Elfriede Jelinek, Czeslaw Milosz and Imre Kertész.
Some aspects from Malgorzata :
It is a difficult workshop, because one has to deal with value. The first day is the key day to get used to the words in another aspect and the group should feel the words, it is like digging in the ground to find the words. Oparek has the idea to create a Hitchcock drama to get this strong involvement working.
Anna Zaroda-Dabrowska carrying on
In a way the crew should choose an individual motto as an icebreaker. Themes from literature for the motto will be like lie, live, happiness, war etc. and quotations. The participant should decide what is the relationship between these things. Opa-rek’s key words are : interpretation, inspiration and innovation and she is testing/practicing this method. Heroes, figures of literature are described in a opposite way as they were written, to build the reverse of the characters. Then they should understand and find out the real figure. After this you should build your authentic character and focus on how to remind the reader/viewer of the fate of the character used. Finally there will be a practical workshop how to make the character. In order to understand the process the participants discuss the generated figures. For this syndrome descriptions will be used such as Peter Pan syndrome. For the contributors cards with pictures of various situations of case studies will be given, which helps the ongoing discussions.
First part of the method is about the self and integrity, while the second is the the self and the relation to the environment.
IO2 2day-workshop by Delle Association – talks: Andrea Balogh, Adrienn Dorsánszki, Bianka Hegedűs, Zsigmond Lázár, László László Révész
Introduction of Andrea Balog, how and why she is involved in the project development:
She is a psychologist and works at Dell , she had several years of experience with arts, art therapy and multinational companies such as IBM. She is skillful in hr, management problems and psychodrama. Art therapy recently was used by her at various refugee camps. Judging from her own records at these places she is very convinced about the success of such approach. Basically all in these methods there have to be something different from what they do regularly. Later she had a description of her activities at Hungarian detention camps. Finally she ended up declaring our methods are also very useful for any situation including burn out managers, people in captivity etc. Art therapy and music together is a wining combination according to her. When doing art therapy for example drawing, painting – in fact what they do not use at all in their life – first they become dirty and you have to get very uncivilized and the child self come out. He is forgetting what he is where and who he is and this what opens them up.
Introduction of Zsigmond Lázár, how and why he is involved in the project development:
He is a musician, conductor, mathematician, composer and he plays on various instruments as well. He’s been working on training and in second chance schools for a long time, so he has developed techniques how to help people to leave their
comfort zones.
Adrienn Dorsánszki presenting the structure of the workshop and what is expected from the trainer – the presented aspect are true for both of the 2day-workshops developed by Delle
The frame of the two-day workshops. What to expect from a trainer? a. Holding the group together, no final answer for that, yet. b. She should create a ‘safe space’. Should be made some preparation on site or what other method should be used? The solution for this this task is still in progress. Whether the workshop is held at the company’s place or somewhere else in both cases there is a need for the safe space. For these and for other proposes some kind of a preparation ‘persona studies’ are needed also on how the participant comfort zone should be set up. KulturAXE suggested already a survey (DISC model), Delle is in the state of understanding and researching this topic. The dilemma if the participants are more a group of individuals or group members was mentioned as well.
First half of the session is coming out from the box and telling all the whys for ex-ample: why is the burning out? etc. The second part is deepening your presence, changing the attitude, the personal goals and realising the new opportunities. There should be made a clear and detailed timetable for all the steps and brakes, because brakes are as important as the course itself.
László Révész continues the presentation – The Big Picture, 2 days workshop (animation+comics workshop)
The Big Picture is the new title of the animation, comics project. The decision was made that we will not make animation as already discussed it with all of the project holders. Also it was clear last time that we will work with photos and all the characters in the comic strip will be developed through photo making like in a photo novel. The big new step is a kind of new narration combined with huge walls of images covering perhaps the main wall as a result of the workshop. Large picture ( a photo collage) of pictures in grids and sometime even almost repetitive series of photos will explain the story.
Adrienn Dorsánszki continues the presentation
to help the crew constructing characters used in the comics a card game will be played. In this match the cards will have drawings and description of possible roles in the comics. Then can be made a decision if they work with these characters or not. This game can be a way also for getting information from the members about their hidden goals, what they want to achieve with this seminar.
Adrienn Dorsánszki continues the presentation – JAM, 2 days workshop (music workshop)
Jam is the new title for the music workshop. The grounds of the workshop did not changed, we will be using the noise from the office environment. A possible horizontal structure can be if we go on of a day in the life of an office, where all the possible office life situations can be articulated into sound and music. It can start with mixing exercises, watching movie clips and changing the soundtrack in as many ways as possible. The sound, music is not only about the happenings in a movie, abut it creates other emotions. Very small task can be given to the crew to under-stand the mechanism of how from noise a new thing, music can be reached.
Caroline Kaiser, KulturAXE
Second questionnaire is added to the first one by KulturAXE. All data is based on real persons. In this survey the visualization is the extra feature. There are four virtual characters, avatars which can be seen with the diagrams of the the results of the interview. The characters for example Johanna/Susanna, a Viennese or Wojciech, from Krakow. The conversation went about the fine adjustment of this visualization. Examples: Not using burn out expression for the target group. The personal likes, dislikes should be focused as well. According to A.D.Z the more non-universal the whole project is, we are more in our framework, closer to our task. E.K. said – if a manager comes with art ideas, he has the chance to widen her/his horizon.
Second day:
At the beginning of the meeting we agreed that we change the structure of the meeting:
1. discussion and clarification of the reporting process – Orange Hill
2. Webpage + socialmedia discussion – KulturAXE
3. Art and revolution, 2 days workshop – Orange Hill
4. we agreed that we leave the brainstorming session for the 3 day-workshop
Discussion and clarification of reporting and dissemination – Orange Hill
Anna talks about reporting how it has to be done, what are the deadlines. This time we need to do financial reporting and substation reporting about the progress of the project. One is the content report/progress report this is the written part, we need to write what we have done so far. The report will be done using online tool provided by the agency its called mobility tool and this tool is opened for all beneficiaries. Anna sent the reporting documents for all partners already.
Social media platform and website – KulturAXE
The discussion started with the question if these platforms suppose to be multilingual or they just appear in English.
two different solutions:
- First is the worst is to translate everything to all languages, to have like mirror pages with exactly the same content.
- Second is to have on the main page the basic info, the main content of the project in all languages. In a way you a have an introduction page, a short version of the project in each languages. Under the sort introduction we could mention that you can read more about the project on partners website.
Caroline Kaiser, KulturAXE presentation of the website:
After the Vienna meeting Anna made some comments to the website. First idea was to make a window, but Anna said it is too much. I changed the whole thing, and now we have a top bar and then comes the slider.
The site starts with the logo, and then the photos of all the meetings. You click on the photo, you get the minutes of that meeting. The biggest challenge was that the side could work on all devices and all platforms. It also works on mobile phones. So I made three different sliders.
If you go on Partners, you can see each partner organisations, and their members. I you click on the Organisation, you get to team page. Each of us have a team page. You can tell me what text you want there, and each organisation will have its own links/social media connects. You tell me what links to mention here.
Social media
I will open a Facebook page for CulturePRO, and it would look similar to the web-site. I will put each of you as an administrator of the page, which means, each of you can post, write content. We could report a bit about our meetings and share con-tent about management, leadership, design thinking links, or if we meet artist, or cultural expert meeting, we could post a nice photo about that.
IO2 2day-workshop by Orange Hill – talks: Anna Zaroda-Dobrowska, Art and Revolution
The biggest aim with this workshop to energize out of the box thinking. Also it should mentioned that his type of workshop is for leaders / leader managers who like to use creativity. It’s based on working with a team and the keywords are: visuality, film, sensuality. The crew members can find their identity from the common knowledge.First to watch six different film genres, easily recognisable. Then how to construct a scenario with role-playing and patent cards. After this shooting the episodes with virtual sets designed by Pawel Mendrek. Later editing and then making the conclusion in a festival style.
The projects timetable was explained also.
The floor’s response was that probably for the editing more help is in need.
NEXT MEETINGS
The next international meeting will be hosted by Orange Hill in Krakow.
Orange Hill will prepare the agenda and propose the venue.
